PBO eLogbook Guide for Residents and Fellows
This is a simple step-by-step guide for daily use of the eLogbook.

Before You Start
- Log in to your account.
- If asked, complete the registration steps on screen.
- Open your profile menu and check
Subscription/License.
If your license is not active, some buttons may be hidden or disabled.
Residents and Fellows need a license to log. After graduation you can still access your data without paying. See Logbook Policies.
Main Menu: What to Click
After login, use the left menu (or dashboard cards) to open each section.
Surgeries
This is where you log and track operations.
List- See all your surgery entries.Log New- Add a new surgery.Breakdown- See your counts per category.Rating Dashboard- Check which cases are still pending, finalized, or expired.Print- Download/print your surgery logbook copy.
OREF
This is for rotation evaluation requests.
List- See all your OREF requests.Request- Send a new OREF request.
OCEX
This is for clinical encounter assessments.
List OCEX- View completed and pending assessments.Request New- Request a new OCEX.List Requests- Track requests you sent.
When an OCEX is completed, confirm it when prompted.
Other Logbook Sections
You can also update:
- Procedures
- Cases
- Research
- Meetings
- Conferences
- Presentations
- Exams
- Leaves
For Fellows
Fellows may see extra sections depending on their program.
These may include:
- Fellowship procedure logs
- Fellowship case/condition logs
- Evaluation tools (for example, Clinical Performance Rating Tool and 360° Evaluation)
- Other fellowship logs (for example, research, interesting cases, conferences, awards)
Meaning of Common Statuses
Pending- Waiting for action/review.FinalizedorVerified- Completed and accepted.Expired- Time window passed.Denied- Request was not approved.
Check your dashboard and list pages regularly to avoid missed deadlines.
Good Documentation Habits
- Use a patient code, not full patient identifiers.
- Double-check date, procedure, and consultant details before saving.
- Keep your profile details (name/email) updated.
Printing Your Report
- Open the surgery or logbook print page.
- Refresh or regenerate before downloading if you recently added entries.
- Review the PDF before submission.
If Something Is Missing or You Cannot Click a Button
Check:
- Your role (Resident or Fellow)
- Your license status in
Subscription/License - Whether the item is waiting for consultant or training officer action
If still unresolved, contact your training officer or system administrator.
